Jon Shell brings a decade of large-format additive manufacturing experience to IC3D as our Hardware Product Manager to help bring the Virago 700 3D Printer to an eager audience. With a background in aerospace electronics and automotive manufacturing, he has amassed many accomplishments: managing the unique Longaberger Company facility, orchestrating distribution for the Autozone in Zanesville, as well as running software and hardware development for WillowWood. Before his work at IC3D, Jon spent time with Forstmann Little Aerospace, working on military and civilian aircrafts.

IC3D definitely has a role to play in the local, regional, and Additive Manufacturing community. I have seen first-hand how the IC3D team succeeds at their mission of expanding human potential by making manufacturing accessible to all as a long-time customer of IC3D’s engineering & consultation services. Working one-on-one with the team to bring custom advanced manufacturing solutions to rapidly changing challenges and demand continues to be a joy.

I’m excited to see Virago as a nice addition to the digital printing landscape in that she has a very large build volume, independent dual extruders (IDEX), and a rugged, precise motion platform. There’s a big gap between $4 thousand and $3 million 3D printers.

Jon Shell, IC3D Printers

As a member of AMUG, he’s excited to integrate back into the world of additive manufacturing — promoting AM both personally and professionally. In his role as salesperson for the new Virago 700 3D Printer, Jon draws from his experience designing large format printers with IC3D’s own Matt Organiscak while at WillowWood. During his seven years there, he crafted digital prosthetics and orthotics. When he isn’t printing, Jon loves spending time with his grandkids and his hungry black lab, Kate.
