3D Print Service

How do I request a part?

Submit your request and tell us more about your project here. There are questions about the function of the part, quantities needed, your deadline, and much more. You will also be able to upload a file or a picture. This form is emailed to our account managers who will then contact you with a quote and lead time or any follow-up questions they might have. If you don’t have all of the details worked out beforehand – that’s okay! Our engineers can help answer questions and provide guidance.

What are the preferred 3D CAD model formats?

Most CAD 3D model formats are acceptable – STL files are preferred. Our engineers can help you turn your design into a digital model if you don’t have a digital model available.

What kind of 3D printers does IC3D use?

IC3D uses a fleet of custom-built large-format printers as well as industry-leading desktop 3D printers. We can produce parts up to 48 x 48 x 42 inches (1200 x 1200 x 1066 millimeters) in size. Need to go bigger? IC3D can make that happen.

  Can I 3D print extra-large items?

IC3D can engineer your large part into multiple pieces that are then assembled and finished into one seamless product.

Can IC3D 3D print giant items in one piece?

IC3D can custom build whatever 3D printer is necessary to get the job done.

What 3D printing materials are available?

ABS: Featuring a high impact resistance & mechanical properties, ABS is the industrial standard for consumer electronics & other plastic parts.

ASA: Similar to ABS, ASA offers strong UV and chemical resistance, durability, and a high impact resistance.

PLA: Dimensionally stable and rigid, IC3D excels at large-scale prints, fit-checks, and appearance-focused parts.

Nylon: Strength & chemical resistance combine to create a durable material with a low coefficient of friction, perfect for end-use, field-ready parts.

PC-PBT: Super strong, durable, and stiff, PC-PBT features a high impact resistance, chemical resistance, and rigidity.

Recycled PETG: R-PETG excels at printing large objects, quickly thanks to its high-flow rate and superb bonding characteristics.

TPU 70D: A flexible thermoplastic urethane, IC3D TPU 70D is less still than PETG and offers just the right amount of give for field-ready, end-use parts.

Need a custom material or color? We can make both for bulk customers. Let us know what you are looking for.

Can you give me a quick cost estimate for my part?

We highly recommend that customers fill out the Request A Quote form. Many things can influence the cost including: complexity of the part, material needed, design time, quantity, etc. Without knowing all of those details, we can’t give an accurate quote. Get a quote here: Request A Quote.

I have a broken part and replacements are no longer available. Can you make this for me?

Our engineers will recommend the best way forward based on your design, application, and any other considerations you may have.

Do you have 3D scanning capabilities?

Yes, we’d be happy to evaluate your needs and recommend the best solution.

Will you sign an NDA for my design?

Yes. Designs that are submitted on the Request A Quote form are treated as confidential by default. You can send your NDA to us for signing after the quote has been submitted.

How long will it take to complete my order?

When the account managers quote your project, they will also quote you a lead time. Please see our lead time policy for further details.

How do I get a 3D printing quote?

Submit your design and project details here: Request A Quote.

How quickly will someone respond to me?

We strive to respond to inquiries within one business day.

How many items per order can I have produced?

Depending on the size of the part, IC3D can manufacture thousands of parts per day.

How do I choose which material to use?

IC3D engineers will recommend the best material depending on the product and application. Each material has specific characteristics that make it better suited for certain jobs.

I’d like to use a material with specific characteristics. What do you have available?

Our engineers are materials experts. They will be happy to help you choose the right material for your job. We make a variety of filaments in-house, including: PLA, PETG, ABS, Recycled PETG, High-temperature ABS, and Polyhex. We can source anything that we don’t make.

What kind of 3D printing technology do you recommend?

Our engineers will recommend the best 3D printing technology based on your design, application, and any other considerations you may have.

Can you 3D print metal parts?

IC3D can use thermoplastic filaments with metallic properties including thermal conductivity, magnetism, and weight.

3D Printing Filament

Does IC3D make its own filament?

Yes, we do! We make PLA, PETG, ABS, Recycled PETG, High-temperature ABS, and 70D TPU.

I have questions about IC3D filament, who can I talk to for support?

Email Support@IC3DPrinters.com or call 614-344-0414 for help.

Does IC3D make custom colors or filament types?

Yes, we can make custom colors. We have the capability to make different filament types – we’d love to talk more about your ideas!

  How is IC3D filament packaged?

IC3D filament is bagged with desiccant and boxed individually.

What are the IC3D Filament spool dimensions?

Filament Spool Dimensions

1 kg Spool
2.5 kg Spool
10 kg Spool

How important is keeping filament dry?

As long as the filament is stored in a temperature & humidity controlled environment — e.g. your house with the HVAC system running, not your garage — leaving filament sitting out for extended periods of time won’t lead to significant degradation of 3D print quality. That said, humidity levels of above 30% for extended periods of time (1-2 weeks) can lead to printing issues and would require drying to renew print quality. Printing issues from moisture can be identified by popping and hissing sounds from the nozzle during extrusion — this is moisture escaping in the form of gas — and can often be observed in the final print surface as ‘zits’ or pock marking. If you observe these issues, dry your filament using a dehydrator or oven using the recommended drying temperature for your material.

Under normal circumstances, HVAC systems will maintain humidity levels below 30% and should provide adequate protection against moisture degradation for filament left sitting out in the environment. For the best printing quality we recommend storing filament spools in the bag it was shipped in, along with the desiccant and using the reusable zip tie to seal the bag in between prints or for extended periods of non-use.

What 3D printing filament is safe for food contact?

While the FDA has approved some material for contact with food, the 3D printing process itself presents many opportunities for foreign contaminants and microbial buildup. We recommend covering or coating prints with approved food-contact or food-grade materials.
