3D Printed Toys for Tots 2022

Sponsorship Opportunities

In early 2014, IC3D Printers cofounder and COO Matt Organiscak envisioned enlisting the help of 3D printer operators around the nation to produce scalable and meaningful impact for needy kids. First launched in 2018, the annual 3D Printed Toys for Tots charitable campaign uses volunteer-driven distributed manufacturing 3D printing clusters across the nation to produce toys for all. IC3D provides thousands of kilograms of material and organizes volunteer regional coordinators—ElfHubs—that receive, inspect, and deliver thousands of 3D printed toys to Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots chapters in their area.

Manufacturing Evolved

Donations Made, Children Inspired

2018

Goal: 100

Achieved: 150

One hundred and fifty 3D printed toys were donated to Toys for Tots chapters in Columbus, Ohio during this inaugural campaign.

2019

Goal: 1,000

Achieved: 1,400

The lessons learned harnessing doers from around the midwest created the start of a distributed manufacturing network—one that would step in to address the challenges of late 2019 head on.

2020

Goal: 5,000

Achieved: 17,300

The volunteer distributed manufacturing network grew to 124 3D printing elves producing over 17 thousand toys that were distributed across the Midwest.

2021

Goal: 50,000

Achieved: 68,900

Regional volunteer clusters—ElfHubs—were created to help manage the expansive demand. These regional collection, processing, and distribution hubs helped maximize the impact for the community at home.

2022

Goal: 75,000

Help the nationwide community of volunteer 3D printing elves make a bigger impact in our community by sponsoring the annual 3D Printed Toys for Tots charitable campaign now.

2023

Goal: 150,000

Planning ahead? So are we. Help make it happen—sponsor the annual 3D Printed Toys for Tots charitable campaign now.

Every year since 2014 the company has hosted a “3D Printed Toys for Tots” campaign, in which volunteer 3D printer operators everywhere can help produce 3D printed toys for needy children… This is an admirable campaign, but what’s even more impressive is the scale of the event. Last year, participants produced more than 69,000 3D printed toys – massive increase over 2020’s “mere” 17,000 toys. This year the campaign hopes to hit 75,000 toys, and that’s likely given the growth rate of the event.

One of the most unique aspects of the 3D Printing community is the distributed aspect of manufacturing and the ability to work together while apart. Like the Marine Corps Reserves who founded the Toys for Tots program, IC3D’s printer elves came through, proving there is strength in numbers. NatureWorks believes in doing right by both people and the planet and are proud to partner with IC3D and all the printer elves who have such a positive impact by printing so many toys for those less fortunate.

It is wonderful to be a part of bringing joy to children, especially when it is through the incredible efforts of the Toys for Tots program. NAHT hopes its ongoing efforts to support Toys for Tots helps to raise awareness about the flexibility and unique benefits of 3D printing technology and how it can be harnessed to advance human potential.

We are humbled by the overwhelming response we received from our volunteer ‘printer elves.’ The 3D printing community has stepped up in a big way. This capacity shows how transformative these new technologies can be; in three years of this campaign, we increased our toy production by 1,000%.

Imagine the possibilities when additive manufacturing and high volume is required and applied to medical equipment, parts for machines, or any other industry. IC3D is excited to showcase how democratizing manufacturing for everyone delivers a rapid result at scale.
